Reviews of Lake Champlain’s and Stephen’s Hot Chocolate

Some time ago, I got to sample some hot chocolates sent to me by Donna at Hot Chocolate Bliss.

Lake Champlain Organic Hot Chocolate
Being a health nut, I was happy to try this organic hot cocoa mix. As you probably know, organic food is reported as being healthier than non-organic. As good as eating organic products might make you feel, this hot chocolate certainly tastes great too! I’m always afraid of hot cocoa mixes being too sweet, but fortunately, this wasn’t the case. The sweetness was exactly right for my taste. All in all, this hot chocolate tastes just like it has to – and because it’s organic, I can doubly recommend it!

Lake Champlain Chai + Mighty Hot Chocolate
Lake Champlain has come up with some interesting flavours! Even though I like to mix things, I’ve never tried the fashionable chai with cocoa. In Lake Champlain’s version, I can clearly distinguish the flavours of both chai spices and chocolate. Surprisingly, they complement each other perfectly! With just the right amount of heat, this is a good warm-up drink. The only downside is that towards the end it got slightly too sweet for me.

Stephen’s Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate
Creamy white hot chocolate that hides under a pumpkin’s bright orange coat. Actually, in the beginning, the colour made it difficult for me to understand whether it’s a white or “ordinary” chocolate. The taste was also far from a definitive “black or white”. Added spices were rather mild, at least compared to some other version of hot cocoa with pumpkin spice. However, they added a lovely nuance to the drink. All in all, I loved it, because it was the creamiest ever hot chocolate based on water!

Stephen’s Peanut Butter Cup Hot Chocolate
I had high hopes for this one, as I love both peanut butter and chocolate, even more so together! It has a wonderful aroma. Just like the Pumpkin Spice version, it is silky smooth – except for the tiny peanut butter cups that don’t melt all the way and sink to the bottom. The peanut butter taste could be slightly stronger to be more according to my taste, but nevertheless – a great flavoured hot cocoa mix!
